Thinking about starting a flower farm? Our 12-month mentoring programme takes you through a full growing year, from the first plan on paper to your first season of selling, with someone in your corner who has done it.
The programme is run by Nick, with bonus sessions from Johanna, who grows the flowers here at The Bloomsmith. It is mostly online, so you can join from anywhere in Ireland, with two days on our farm during the year.

How the year runs
- November to January - planning your site, soil, what to grow, costings and who you will sell to
- February to April - seeds, sowing, propagation, tubers, beds and infrastructure
- May to July - planting out, pest control, first harvests and conditioning
- August to September - selling to florists, markets, subscriptions and weddings, and getting your pricing right
- October - lifting and storing dahlias, reviewing the year and planning year two
Price
€195 a month for 12 months, or €2,100 paid in full. VAT included. The main group starts on 1 November, but you are welcome to join at any time, and you can cancel monthly payments whenever you need to.
